Kibbeling in Delft

In the Dutch sunshine, we left our Amsterdam hippy commune for the more rarefied city of Delft. After setting up camp we cycled into town stopping for coffee in the pretty town square. A barrel organ was playing all the tunes from My Fair Lady, it all seemed rather surreal. We have come to realise that barrel organs are a popular feature in Dutch town squares and Broadway musicals the preferred bill of fare. We rather disregarded the main attractions of Delft; Pottery and Vermeer and headed for the bustling street market where we had our first taste of Kibbeling, deep fried battered fish and a popular Dutch speciality. It was delicious. The fish had an amazingly fresh taste, so much so I was soon queuing for seconds.
