A night out in Copenhagen

To make up for the disappointment of not being able to eat at Noma we opted for Mavem, a restaurant rated 29th on trip advisor out of 1641 (Noma was 5th) We cycled back to the concrete site (now called ‘brave new world’ as there was not a blade of grass to be found) to prepare ourselves for a night out. This was the first time we had needed to dress up and the first time we had camped without any water or electrical facilities. Luckily there was plenty of water in the tank and the solar panel had been working its magic so there was plenty of power. The shower in the van proved to be more than adequate, warm and a decent pressure, although Graeme had to be jemmied in and out on account of his height. My hair was a problem as the hairdryer does not work on the 12volt leisure battery but as we were cycling back into town anyway I knew any hairstyle achieved at the van would not be the same by the time I reached the restaurant so took plenty of gel and hairspray with me.
The restaurant was in an old church which had burnt down in the early eighteenth century and since being rebuilt had never been used as a church. The dining space was like an old library, dark panelling and non-matching wooden tables & chairs. The menu was nicely limited and very expensive. Graeme had asparagus to start with which consisted of one stalk of asparagus, white and thick served with prawns and bacon and according to Graeme delicious but at an eye watering £14. The meal was amazing and I had probably one of the best fillets of lamb that I’ve ever had. I would have taken photos but wanted to maintain a sophisticated, chic appearance, although, when I eventually got round to checking my hair I realised I needn’t have worried.
We left the restaurant happy and poorer. We cycled around the twinkley night town of Copenhagen, bid a last farewell to the little mermaid and set off for our brave new world.
