We crossed the Arctic Circle (Polarsirkel in Norway) today at 8.53am. Our journey to the circle had been beautiful and the roads almost devoid of all traffic. Due to road works we had been diverted off the main road onto a small mountain road which although winding and narrow provided us with amazing views of frozen lakes and snowy mountains. The temperature had slowly been decreasing as we climbed the mountains but the sun was blazing as we crossed 66o 33’N. The landscape was white, bleak and eerily quiet. It was incredible to be the only two standing in the snow on this bit of the circle. Unfortunately, it was short lived as two coaches of tourists soon followed us into the circle to dispel the magic. It was yet another amazing experience to paste in our ever expanding scrapbook of Amazing experiences in Norway.
